Someone on the US forum mentioned that it's a "theme". It matches their books.

What the #&%*?
I liked the blue and green, but this is, ummm, how shall I put it, pedestrian and garish at one and the same time.
The little flying person was the best thing they had going for them graphically.

My Fodor's sign in the upper left-hand corner is black background with white letters. Maybe chocolate would have looked better.

What's with the new "Fall" colors? I could see these colors in October/November, Red & Green in December, yada, yada, yada.

cd,

Their books are printed on the flimsiest, cheapest pulp paper imaginable-- so maybe the website does follow a "theme."

Hey, maybe they're trying to scare away the trolls and other misbehavers.

It's terrible. I can't imagine what that color combination is supposed to do the poor posters.

The editors should know that alot of us are online at work and now we will be busted with that ugly header. It cheapens the site why doesnt an editor come on this thread and explain.

I have resorted to making a tent from a letter size piece of cream colored paper and draping it over the top of my flat screen monitor.
The paper shields my eyes from Fodors header but still allows me to see the threads.;-)

I almost jumped out of my chair when I went onto Fodors this morning.

Colors are terrible IMO. The black/white Fodors sign is hard on the eyes.

But guess Fodors is happy with their "new look".

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I'm very much afraid we're stuck with the new "image."

Check out the cover of the new Fodors 2005 guide to France: same orange and yellow, same black-and-white Fodors.

If it's the new "corporate identity," there's no way they are going to listen to the complaints of us lowly users.

In the interest of balance, if you like the new format, especially the color scheme, please post on this thread.

Budman, if I move the b/w logo to the left, I can no longer see the thread titles. It's the garish colors that are driving me crazy. Maybe a "tent" such as the one starspinner (above) originated is the way to go.

Wonder if Fodor's beta tested their new scheme with any actual Forum users before they foisted it on us?

I do not mind being spotted as a tourist, but I refuse to carry around a bright orange guide book! Very tacky. . .

So, we covered the colors. No reaction to this message?
"We are happy to announce that the Fodor's editors are now participating in the forums. They will be dipping as time permits to talk about their travel experiences and to offer advice. Take advantage of this opportunity to pick their brains and if you're lucky they'll drop in on your thread."

So I clicked on one of the messages and saw no Fodor editor comment. Guess I couldn't read the editors' input because of the bright colors.

The colors are quite displeasing.

However, I am very taken by the cute emoticons and symbols everyone uses. How do I get the key to make them myself? Is it the same way one makes emoticons on MSN Messenger?
