Yikes! Did Anyone Catch the New Food Network Show Tonight?

The one with Tony something or other in Provence? Not a bad show, but WTF was he wearing? He obviously doesn't read Fodors!

Shows up at a chateau in Provence for a cooking lesson wearing black capris, black t-shirt covered with light-blue collared dress shirt, covered with clunky black jacket, and these huge honking black and white trainers -- EYESORE!!!!

At least he seemed to have a modicum of fairly well-accented French...

But can he cook?

mimi, who doesn't have the new food network

I've worked as a waitress in upscale restaurants and in the kitchen, all the chefs wear those types of shoes. I'm sure that's the case, even in Provence ;)

I loath man-capris, but kudos to this Tony guy for going with the trainers over, say, flipflops or birkenstocks.

In fact, it sounds like he was pretty covered-up, which is often more than one can dare hope for.

(but considering this was for a cooking lesson, exposed--and possibly hairy?-- man-leg flesh is still fairly disturbing and unappetizing all the same...)

He's not a chef, so what he wears on his feet has nothing to do with being a cook.

And none of the French people he interviewed or cooked with were wearing anything remotely resembling trainers.

if he wasn't in the kitchen, on the potentially slippery floors, then ewww and shame on him!! ;) especially for clunky athletic shoes with capris of all things!

;)

Didn't "catch" it (what ever that means?) Didn't "watch" it///

StCirq Sep 4th, 2007 07:28 PM

Is there something weird about using the verb "to catch" to mean watch a tv show or movie? Seems like perfectly acceptable colloquial English to me. Perhaps English isn't your first language? If it isn't, well, you've just learned a colloquialism! If it is, well....dunno what to say....
