yet another London hotel question
Has anyone had any personal experience with staying more than two persons to a room at the Royal Horseguards or Rubens in the Park? RH told me they set up a third bed in the room, but one of the booking companies told me it's actually a "cot" or foldaway bed.

When I was looking at Rubens the third bed is a sofa bed
|
Yes, you're right. But I can't quite figure out the setup that Royal Horseguards has. The Thistle guy e-mailed me and said they set up a third "real" bed (if you book a deluxe double and give them prior notice) and he was confident I would be quite comfortable. But one of the booking agents I talked to said it was definitely a foldaway type bed, or what an American might consider a "cot"! Those things can be murder...

Well I imagine that someone who actually works for the hotel will know better than a 'booking agent' halfway across the world.

Try to find an email for the hotel directly and ask them about the bed set up.
When I was asking about the Rubens I got two different answers one from Carnation hotels and a completely different one from the hotel directly. I had emailed them at the same time. I also got two different prices and going through the hotel directly was lower |
Nona1 -
This was a Thistle representative, the only e-mail address they provide on the website. Truthfully, his answer was worded in such a way that still doesn't clear up the question. That's why I was posting the thread, hoping that someone who's actually stayed in a "triple" could enlighten me. I will certainly call the hotel directly if necessary. |
Maybe try asking the question "does the bed fold in the middle and have wheels?" - I honestly can't imagine how/that a hotel would be able to set up anything other than a temporary bed. Rollaway beds have what looks like a "real" mattress, so maybe that's what he meant. At any rate, a short phone call should clear up your questions and is probably a good investment vs. the cost of the hotel stay.
