Yet Another Albergo Del Senato Question
Is anyone familiar with "the apartment" room at the Albergo del Senato? It is apparently a split level interior (possibly lower level room) that is quite large with two pull out sofas and a bedroom on the upper level (sounds like a loft). They have given me an extraordinary rate for my August visit with our two teenagers. They also recently offered an alternative Senior Suite (with terrace and views) for 85 euros more per night. We awill be in Rome for 5 nights and am trying to weigh the pros and cons.
In an email exchange today I was told that the apartment vs room size is 50m vs 28 m. But obviously no view whatsoever. Thanks! |
My daughter and three friends stayed in the apartment room two years ago. So did a family of five that we know from town. The apartment is off a private hall on the ground floor that is just behind reception. There is no view, as you mentioned in your post, but my daughter and friends didn't find it a problem, and were very comfortable in the extremely large space. While they were there, my husband and I and our ( at the time) 15-year-old son stayed in what I think is the senior suite on the 6th floor. We had two connecting rooms, one of which had a tiny balcony and terrace facing The Pantheon. Honestly, for the extra E85/night, I think you'd be better off having a wonderful lunch or two, unless you can't stand the idea of an apartment with no view.

Obviously, I didn't mean that my daughter and this other family stayed at the same time, but both visted roughly two years ago!

Thanks weadles-- can you comment on the condition of the apartment?? From other posts it sounds like the top floor suites are refurbished and beautiful. I'm just happy to be at that hotel un that location- just curious as to whether the apartment has received the same attention.

You're probably better off getting comments from someone who's been more recently. We visited two years ago. I'm not sure how recently the renovation occurred. Our top floor suite was fine, but it looked a lot smaller and less glamorous than what I'd envisioned after visiting the hotel's website. For instance, our room had very little space on either side of the bed. Maybe that was just our suite? The apartment was very clean with modern lines. A big space without too many standout details, but who cares when all of Rome is literally a 30 second walk from the apartment door?!
If you need further comments, you might post for a contributor named GRINISA, who has traveled to Rome many times, and knows the hotel well. Good luck, and have fun! |
By the way, the hotel location is SUPERB, and we really enjoyed our Bellinis on the rooftop terrace, overlooking the rotunda and much of Rome!

I can't imagine it being anything other than fabulous!

My husband admits that he changed his mind about Rome after staying at this hotel. That's how good the location was for everything that we wanted to do. We were able to walk almost everywhere, and there were wonderful restaurants within an easy stroll of the hotel.
