I did see that video somewhere this week - pretty amazing. I met a Parisian friend at that metro station in April. It was a beautiful evening; I'm so happy that I happened to hit the summer weather this spring!

We ran into a storm like that on one of our trips to Paris, late at night leaving Chez Maitre Paul full of good food and wine. It was kind of fun walking back to hotel ..no umbrella! One of the very few times i 40 years of traveling we have run into heavy rain. The other time waqs in London again no umbrllas!

we just had rain like that here - it sounded worse too as i was trapped in my polytunnel!
but after 30 mins it was all sunshine. we're off to Brittany this evening so I'm hoping for better - but packing the umbrella. |

I love a sudden rain storm and it was cool to watch this one. I was more concerned that the Parisian drainage system was in good shape to handle the sudden downpour. Neat seeing the tethered bicycle and the cafe table and chairs weathering the elements !
Since others seemed to have had recent storms, let me chime in and mention ours here in my little town north of Toronto. It was a beautiful warm and sunny 27C afternoon today. I got home early and decided to cut the grassy lawn paths and spaces winding between the lush flowerbeds in the garden. An hour later I was admiring the neat emerald swathes when I noticed dark clouds on the horizon. Just finished putting away all the machinery and tools when the heavens opened and a heavy deluge filled the air for the next 30 minutes. Large heavy drops clattering everywhere. I was hot and sweaty from my earlier work and half felt like standing in the warm rain which I loved to do as a child, but chose instead the more adult pursuit of enjoying nature's show from the carpeted porch with a cold beer in hand. Then it ended as suddenly as it began, and the sun reappeared to make all the colours of the garden glisten in fresh light. Ah, summer storms. |
Reminds me of summer in Iowa . . . well except for the cobblestones, iron stair rails, charming sidewalk cafe chairs and the very steep hill.

isn't it great when this happens AFTER you've mown the lawn? |

I was in Paris at the end of June. It was hot, hot, hot. No fun at all. I'd gladly have traded the heat for that shower. Like Avalon, I've walked across Paris in a shower after dinner. It is worth remembering.

Thanks, a wonderful staircase waterfalls.

I was in Paris on this date. We had just gotten back from Bayeux and took the metro back to our apartment. Water was gushing down the little gutters inside the passageway of the station, near the exit. Exiting the station, many people waited to see if the rain was going to let up, but we figured our apt was right around the corner and so just went for it. In those 30 seconds or so we got soaked, lol! But hey, we are from Oregon, we don't melt in a little bit of rain:D
