A friend asked me to post this question. She has a mobile phone that was purchased in France with just 220V. How can she charge this phone before going to France? Does the travel converter purchased in the USA work? Thank you.

Just plug it in and try it with 115V/60Hz at home. I havn't found a 230V phone charger that won't work in the US, even if it doesn't metion that it would. Those "switching power supplies" usually can work down to 90V and even less. Only if it doesn't charge you would want to look for a transformer.

You won't break it, if you try.
