X2000-First class or second?

I am planning to visit Denmark with family for 10 days at the end of July. I recently spoke with a friend in Stockholm who suggested I arrive five days earlier and come to visit her (since I am so close). Would it be worth the five hour trip to be in Stockholm for four days? It sounds good to me, but I want sound advise from all of you that have been there. I looked at the schedule for the X2000 and noted the fare was about $240 round trip for first class and $160 for second class. What is the difference? I will be traveling with my two children, ages 5 and 7. Would the first class tickets grant us more space/privacy? Is it suggested that we pack a meal or are they provided? I wasn't able to find this information on the web site. Thank you advance.

Topping this for you.

Go here for at least some partial answers to your questions perhaps:

going up to first class will probably just get u a slightly wider seat with more legroom, a more quiet compartment since there wont be many families or young poeple on 1.class and probably something like a free cup of coffee/glass of orange juice and a newspaper.

The trip to Stockholm is worth it, especially for four days. You will have plenty of time to visit with your friend and see some of the city and islands. We were there two years ago with our children who were 3 and 6 then and they loved it. Skansen, Junibacken and the Vasa Museum were their favorites. We didn't take the train, so no helpful hints there.

Thank you for the helpful information. The link you sent me, Intrepid1, contained a lot of useful data. I appreciate the first hand experience you shared with me, sprin2. I will let you know the details of how it went when I return in August.
