WW1 sites, Lille to Honfleur

Jump to last reply

After visiting Ieper and doing a tour we will stay overnight in Lille and pick up our rental car the next morning. (To avoid inter country drop off fees).

We plan to then drive south through the Somme area and visit the small towns. We definitely want to visit Villers-Bretonneux and the Australian War Memorial.
Any suggestions for must sees and dos are appreciated. Our final destination is Honfleur. This will be a saturday night and already places are booking up in Honfleur. Our trip is mid September.

Is this too ambitious? Google maps says it is a 3hr 30m trip from Lille to Honfleur. Obviously with stops along the way, this will take a full day. But we do not mind arriving late afternoon in Honfleur as we will have most of the next day.
If we do not stay in Honfluer that night, any other suggestions? I would probably rather not stay in the centre of Amiens. Do you think there would be many B&Bs along the way in the small towns.
