Wurzburg

I am taking my daughter to Germany to show her where i lived when I was a child and my father was in the Army. Does anyone know where Leighton Barracks is in relationship to Wurzburg ?

Is Leighton the barracks with the Px and Megamall??,

If so, It is very central but quite hard to find. If I remember rightly it is on Rottendorfer Strasse, just past Roman Hill. I have details of how to get there but it is in my car at the moment, so if no one else has responded to this message I will get it tomorrow and can give you exact directions.

Wurzburg is a beautiful small city. It is worth spending a few hours exploring the city itself, to visit the Schloss and the Residenz, and there are some beautiful churches also.(I am sure you know already if you lived there :))

What a lovely idea to take your daughter back there, it will bring back some lovely memories I am sure.

ps

You will not be able to enter the barracks area though without proper ID. I don't think a passport will be enough

Leighton Barracks is adjacent to Wurzburg. Close to downtown. Great city. My daughter & family are in Giebelstadt, just 15 minutes south of Wurzburg. We visited them in Oct., 2000.

It is quite difficult to find unless you follow the little white red and blue signs carefully. You will NOT get on post without a military ID card or card holder escort. Security is tight nowadays.
