Wrapping up Feb Italy trip planning
Its almost hard to beleive that my trip is only 3 weeks away. I remember booking my ticket 7 months ago thank you NW Worldperks :)! Anyway here is my almost final intenerary, questions and suggestion request.
Trip Italy Feb 1-12 Venice Feb 2-5 Pisa Feb 5 Florence Feb 5-8 Rome Feb 8-12 Train tickets are purchased and Residenza del Doge, Sani Tourist House, and B and B Fiocca are my respective lodging accomodations. Plans for Venice are a little up in the air. I want to participate in the Carnivale activities. Im wondering should I book now or wait til I get there. Suggestions? Florence I have scheduled a Segway tour, the cooking class and Doumo of course. Rome Ive already booked my front of the line Vatican/Sistine chapel tour. I wanted to do a day trip to Napels and Pompeii but I figured that would be too much this time around. Anyone have any MUST see/do suggestions. Thanks in advance. |
Also any clothing/ weather advice would be HUGE.

Only one suggestion: avoid the day trip to Naples as a lot of garbage will be still there in the next weeks.
Welcome to Italy. Ciao. Vincenzo |
Hi Vicenzo,
Your garbage problem has been making the Swiss news lately. Sorry to hear about the mess you've got down there. I even read somewhere a lot more people in Naples are getting cancer than usual and authorities are afraid garbage dumps have been accepting radioactive material. Hope there wasn't much truth in that article. |
A very fresh news, few minutes ago: noboby wants to buy "mozzarella di bufala" as they are afraid that the milk is not good because bufale ate G&G, meaning Grass and Garbage and not only Grass.
Sad but true ! Vincenzo |
I was in Rome last Feb and the weather was mild (compared to home in NY in Feb). I brought a winter coat, gloves, hat and scarf and needed to dress warm most evenings but most of the days were in the high 50's to low 60's - one or two days in high 60's and I wore a velvet blazer with sweater under and a scarf and gloves. Bring umbrellas because it can also rain and shoes that can withstand cobble stone streets and puddles.
Must sees in Rome: Borghese Museum (must book in advance can do this on-line) Borghese park Forum Trevi Fountain San Clemente Cappucine Church (with bone grave) Piazza Navonna Pantheon Trastevere - Santa Maria Church Rome is about the streets, piazza's, life.. |
