Would you trust making this connection in Philly?
Have tentative plans to fly in from RDU, arriving at 7 PM. Flight to Paris departs at 8:10...both flights on USAir.
I know this is a legal schedule, but how thin does this cut it? Esp. if there's even a 15 or 20 minute delay in arriving...? I haven't flown in or out of Philly in over 20 years, so have no idea where USAirs int'l departures are vs. domestic terminals. Also, if I stick to this schedule and I miss the 8:10 flt. to Paris, what is airlines responsibility?
Thanks for any help/suggestions you can offer. P>S> Baggage transfer not an issue as will have carry-on only.

Personally, yes, I would trust it. I am not sure what their precise responsibility is, but they know, and it is considerable - - enough so, that they are very motivated to see that you make this flight.

There are four parallel corridors at PHL; ten minutes gets you from anywhere to anywhere.

Best wishes,

Rex
No, no, no!! Take the next earlier flight. The Philly airport is huge and sprawling--you will most assuredly have to change concourses.
We had the same possibility a couple of years ago on a change in Pittsburgh with the added thing of meeting/rendezvousing with our children on the Paris plane in Pitt. Flight from Charlotte was delayed--we would not have
made it if the Paris bound flight hadn't also had mechanical problems. Our last trip we were offered a close connection in Philly and I said no--do yourself a favor and do the same. You will go out on their next flight--the next day in all probability if you don't make the flight.

No one can predict plane schedules, but normally if you are flying the entire route on US Air as you say, they will know you need to make a connection and will be looking for you. I've been in and out of Philly many times on overseas flights, using USAir mostly, and my experience has been that you will need to change terminals. When I last traveled (last year) the walk from my arrival gate to the international departure area was about 15 minutes of steady, brisk walking. I would suppose that hasn't changed. So I don't believe you are going to have a connection problem, but you have to decide what gives you peace of mind. I can only say that of many international connections through Philly on USAir, I have never missed a flight.

Hi Phil

I have traveled to Rome twice through PHL from a connecting flight on US Airways. If you have no other choice, I would take the 7:00 plane, BUT if you can opt for an earlier flight.
There is a lot of air traffic around that area.
On our last trip in May, I asked the ticket agent if he would go for an earlier connector flight and he said yes. We did and we had to cool our heels for two hours in the airport because the flight did arrive on time, but I would rather that then miss the flight. The earlier arrival gave us about the same time as you would have. Too close for me.
Have a great trip.
