Would you go to Budapest in January?
My husband and I are thinking of spending a week in Budapest where we have never been before.
We don't mind the cold weather but would like to know what everyone thinks. Is there going to be enough things to do for a week in January? I have not done any researchch yet and would like to hear from experts first. Thanks |
Of course I would go (I'm already booked to visit Germany at the same time). If you think a week is too long, what about combining it with Vienna?

Not if it's probably going to be your only time.
It has nice areas for outdoor dining, reminiscent of Paris. |
If you do go, do not miss a visit to the outdoor Szechenyi baths. Nothing like soaking in a huge pool of beautiful warm water with gushing fountains and twinkling lights, while a light snow falls gently and the steam rises in clouds from the surface.
From personal experience, its a beautiful city to visit in the Spring, Summer or Fall, and I'm sure the winter must have its own charms and variety of activities. |
I have been twice in February and would not balk at another winter trip. If you are interested in concerts and ballet, see what is on and arrange your dates accordingly.
I agree Vienna is an easy add-on if you have not been there either. There are inexpensive train tickets between the two. Fly into one and out the other. |
