Would you change this itinerary?
We are leaving for Italy in less than a month and are now thinking about changing our itinerary slightly. Any advice would be appreciated - We were planning on spending 3 days in Venice, 3 (FULL) days in Florence, and 3 1/2 days in Rome. However, we now discovered all the wonderful things about Capri and would like to add this. Do we really need 3 days in Florence and 3 1/2 days in rome or could we fit all the major sights in less time and squeeze capri in 1 1/2 day - would it be worth it?
Any suggestions, advice, etc. would be appreciated!!

Hi j2r4s,
IMO you will be doing too much to enjoy your trip if you add Capri. I have not been to Capri but am going to the Amalfi Coast and Capri this week. Of course, you can cut time from Florence and Rome but there is plenty to keep you busy in Florence and Rome. You seem to have a nice itinerary planned already. I know how seeing more "pulls at your heart," but maybe you can go back and spend time in Naples and the Amalfi area on another trip. Happy travels!!

IMHO you should not change the itinerary. While 3 days in Venice and 3 in Florence is a bare minimum for seeing the hightlights offered by those cities, 3.5 days in Rome is not nearly enough. If you would like to see Capri, you should add 4-5 days to your trip or (and I am not recommending this), drop Florence and Venice, add 2 days to Rome and spend 4 days in Capri. It would not be worth trying to do it all in the time you have alloted.
