Would you base in Honfleur?

Day One - Arrive in Caen via afternoon train from Paris, pick up rental, drive to B&B in Honfleur, dinner harborside

Day Two and Three - (not necessarily in this order) Stroll streets of Honfleur, visit peace museum in Caen or D-day landing museum in Arromanches (if we can do only one, which would you suggest?), American cemetery/Omaha Beach, Bayeux tapestry.

Day Four - Depart in the morning and drive to Lille to drop off rental car and catch Eurostar to London.

Is this doable? Reasonable?

Looks like a great visit to Normandy to me. Honfleur is one of my favorite villages anywhere. Be sure to get a bowl of moules (mussels) while dining by the harbour!

I also favor Honfleur.
Th American Cemetary is very heart breaking to see.

thanks so much travelhorizons and cigalechanta. in doing my research i've almost become more excited about Normandy than the first leg of our journey in Paris.

The museums at the various beaches are not terribly large, and after a couple, are redundant. The one at Arromanches is unique however and won't really take an excessive amount of time. The Caen museum is extensive and large. Someone suggest moules in Honfleur which would be fine, but other seafood is equally as wonderful there. Have a bowl of moules on a terrace in Arromanches!!
