Would teens enjoy Orvieto?

We are going to Rome in February and we're considering a day trip to Orvieto...
We've been to Italy a few times - and have been to Venice, Florence (twice), Naples and Capri...
We'll have my daughter's friend with us who hasn't been to Italy yet. We want to do a day trip and we're considering Orvieto since it is close by Rome and will give us a small hill town experience.
So...for anyone who has done this trip with teens could you share good things to do?
We're considering going on a Saturday and doing the underground tour since Sat. and Sun. are the only days this time of year the tour is offered in English. We'll see the duomo...what else is there to see?
I know ceramic stores are big but are there stores that teens would enjoy or is there a market?
We are vegetarian so we'd like recommendations for a good trattoria or pizzeria, too? Grazie for your help.

Yes, very cool caves there.

A couple of other day trips you might consider are to Ostia Antica or Tivoli for Villa D'Este and Hadrian's Villa, that is if you enjoy Roman ruins. Both are easily accessible on public transportation. Tivoli is a nice town on its own, but its been a while since we were there, so can't remember if there were shops that would interest teen-age girls.

We liked our one visit to Orvieto, but liked the other two day trips better.

My daughter loved Orvieto last summer, though we didn't do much of anything special there other than see the sites, walk around, have lunch and a gelato, and shop. She actually loved the ceramic stores. It's a lively place, with lots of young people. The cathedral is amazing and the caves are fabulous.

My daughter was 17 when we went to Orvieto two years ago- she loved it. As an art lover, the cathedral was a highpoint but it is so awe-inspiring that even non artists will be amazed. I wish I could remember the name of the little place to tell you, where we had gelato PIZZA- it was not far from the cathedral, down a little side street. The owner (with a gold stud in her front tooth) said we had to try it- her own concoction- I have the photo blown up of my daughter's look of pure bliss!

Thanks for the responses so far! We will go to Orvieto. It sounds like the caves and town will be a nice change from Rome. We also thought of Ostia but since we'll be doing a lot of touring in Rome and seeing a lot of antiquity I wanted to give the kids a change of pace since I didn't want to "antiquity them out." I studied in Rome many years ago and so on our first trip to Italy I just wanted to show my family everything - and mid-way into our trip my daughter, then 10, told me that she could not look at one more church no matter who painted it! But, she's been back to Italy since and had requested to go back to Florence and go to the Ufizzi again, and this time wants to make sure that we take my husband and her boyfriend (who is traveling with us) to the Borghese Gallery and San Clemente (my hubby didn't go with us on our last trip to Rome). So...she has grown to appreciate art but I've learned that you must pace the trip accordingly for kids.
