bilboburglar said Mont St Michel is in Brittany. No No No. it's in Normandy. The river Couesnon which separates Normandy and Brittany goes to the left so Mont St Michel is in Normandy.

MSM may be in Normandy per se, but it is still a hike to get to it, and especially with few days.

I see this post was started in Jan., nbbrown's trip was to be in May, ,but no word how it went.

I was going to suggest, as we did, ...(across the channel on the tunnel train wiih the car, drove from Calais to Normandy to spend 3 days seeing the beautiful coast and historical sights,,,Omaha beach, cemetary, Arromanches,Pointe du Hoc,etc etc,,,,We then drove down to the Loire Valley for a couple of days,,,seeing the area and a castle or two...then drove up to Orly airport on the S.W of Paris and turned in the car there.
Took a shuttle bus into the city for a few days.
Didn't see the tapestry (will catch it "later" IF it seems important, and didn't get to St. Michels on this trip)., We did see a lot, however, ....the important things to us. Each traveler has different priorities. That area of France is indeed beautiful.
Stayed a night in lovely Honfleur, and a couple in ??? (by Omaha Beach) ,,,later in Amboise in the Loire Valley.
