Thanks to all of you!

fourfortravel , do you mind sharing your favorite cafe/coffee house in Vienna? Will try to avoid those you mentioned.

Cowboy1968-we like the look(online)of the Zum Weissen Rauchfangkehrer, but alas, they are not open on most Sundays. However, we did make a reservation for Saturday evening. We appreciate the suggestion!

bumbleb, in the InnerStadt, Cafe Schwarzenberg for an inside table; Kleines Cafe for a rare available outside table; Cafe Griensteidl when I want to watch people and horse carriages; Cafe Francais (because I like their warm baguette with roquefort and apples); and Beaulieu for any of their tartin, but especially the cherry and pistachio. The last place is a French bistro tucked into Palais Ferstel and not a traditional Viennese coffee house, however.

Not to add more to your agenda, but should you find yourself at Schönbrunn, a pause for a torte and coffee in their garden cafe is an altogether agreeable idea (even if they are part of the chain).

I'm also a fan of the Cafe Griensteidl, for coffee, newspapers, ambience and even a light meal. If you read my TR you may have noticed a rave for eating here: http://www.palmenhaus.at/content/
