World War Two Battlefield guides at Bastogne, Belgium

My husband and a friend are going to Bastogne in May or early June. They have been in contact with a guide Henri Mignon. Has anyone gone on a tour with him or do you have any other suggestions for hiring a guide?

Any suggestions for a good place to stay? Any must-see areas near Bastogne?

Anybody been to the Battle of the Bulge area?

I'm an American Expat living in Belgium on the edge of the Ardenne. The first thing I do when friends visit is take them over to Bastogne. You don't really need a guide, if you want to rent a car, it will give much more freedom, and with GPS nowdays....it's so simple. Give me an idea of how much time you have and I can make a layout for you....there is so much more to see than Bastogne, right in that area.
We also have an expat club called STUDS, and alot of us go on alot of daytrips to the different sites and cemetaries from both World Wars. http://belgiumstuds.com/

Thanks for the web site, iris- very interesting.

Thanks, villarustica, we would really appreciate any suggestions. My husband and his friend, both history buffs, will be in the area for a day and a half.

This is why I really like Fodors- so much helpful information from knowledgeable people.
