World is Round is shutting down

I'll post in fodorites lounge as well for maximum traffic - I know a lot of fodorites use(d) worldisround.

It's a shame. When I first found it I thought it was a great idea but as time went on it became apparent that many other sites were more user friendly and had more zing. Still, I enjoyed viewing member photos.

I posted on this topic earlier today - it realy is a shame. There seem to be a lot of other photo sharing sites but most I've found aren't as travel biased as this one. I'm now looking for another suitable site, though it will take me some time to recreate my articles.

What photo sharing sites do others uses?

As I said in reply to your post Maria I use Photobucket for posting photos on forums which allow hotlinking. We also use the jalbum site for putting albums of trips on, we have space on their site and also link it into our homepage. We really like using jalbum so using their site is a logical follow on.

Well, that is disappointing. They were great. I will check out the others. Thanks for the heads-up. ((*))

There is now an update on their home page:

"Update: We are being approached by a couple potential buyers. Keep your fingers crossed! "

- lets hope they get a last minute reprieve! Though other sites have their merits (thanks hetismij), none of them are specifically travel photo sites.
