I thought this subject had been exhausted until today when I received a catalog which offered a beautiful porcelain replica of a conker for $350. I think I'll head for the cemetery a little earlier than I'd planned.

"Is it a seasonal sport?"
Autumnal, when they fall from the trees.
Your conker gets a title for how many other conkers it has smashed.
Oner, twoer, threer etc etc.
Forget boiling in vinegar or baking the key is to mature or cure them over a long period of time.
Wrap in newspaper and leave in sock drawer for a year or so.
