a--z, haha, true. I always have the worst luck at LAX. A security guard went through my entire bag and piled the contents on the table. Since my undergarments always go in last, they were on top of the pile. I must admit, I was a little less horrified over the whole ordeal since the man next to me (also being searched) was looking at my undergarments with appreciation, instead of recoiling in horror!

The hot coffee article was at Macdonalds. Just like the new lawsuit of the over weight guy who is now sueing the fast food restaurants for his lack of willpower. I guess ONLT in the U.S.A. this could happen....How Embarrasing to be an American, If this is free speach, I'll bury my head.

Good grief, John, I hope it's your keyboard that has no idea how to spell!

The woman had been scalded by coffee that was far hotter than safe by industry and health standards and, indeed, she was scarred.

Frankly, it's time someone blew the whistle on the fastfood industry for the lack of healthy alternatives, esp. in the food served in school lunchroom "food courts." You can't look at all the obese, out-of-shape CHILDREN in our playgrounds and think they should be dismissed for "lack of willpower." You can blame the parents and the schools all you want, but you can't then turn around and say "let the market decide." If the market is kids, and the parents'financial and time resources are tight, of course fastfood is going to be the choice -- and the amount of saturated fats used by fastfood restaurants is staggering. (Literally.) And if the market is not truly "free" but owned by the big advertisers, you're stuck, and so am I.

Not sure this lawsuit is the appropriate way to do it, but as recent history has shown, if you leave it to the large corporations, greed will outstrip public well-being every single time.

Even though I think that fast-food lawsuit is frivolous, I agree with last poster. Being vain NY girl, I am diet-consious, and the only thing I can buy in McD is water. So it is a choice between bad food or no food. And kids love junk food, heck I love junk food, but I know better, kids don't. Don't you remember "eat your vegetables" battles? You can not let kids to make a decision, they will live on ice-cream and pizza.
I would be more understanding of this lawsuit if it was brought by parents or schollboard, not obese old man, who should know better.
