@ geetika: Thanks! I hope you find some useful information in my report; I'm sure you will find much to treasure in a trip to Greece. :)
#26 is poetry!
Thank you! Now, I'm going to read your entire report. :-) |
@ starts: Thanks! Greece is a place that inspires poetry, IMO. :) Doesn't hesitate to let me know if you have questions.
kja: I came across this report while researching a future trip to Greece. Just want to thank you for all the useful information. Well Done!
Best regards Ger |
@ OReilly64: Ger, you will love Greece! I'm glad you found useful information in this report. :)
I’m also planning a trip in the fall and am finding your report invaluable! In fact, I have already reserved the B&B in Thessaloniki for our stay!
@ progol: That's nice to hear -- thanks! The Caravan in Thessaloniki isn't a fancy place, but it definitely met my needs and the staff were incredibly helpful. I hope you enjoy it, and them, as much as I did. :)
kja - I don’t need fancy, just comfortable and helpful with a central location. And a good breakfast! If that is what we will get, I’m fine with it.
@ progol: There's some kind of rose-flavored preserve that is a Thessaloniki specialty and that the Caravan serves as part of its breakfast buffet. I can't remember it's name, but OMG, it is tasty!
My trip to Greece has been deferred from February to October due to work committments. I have also booked The Caravan in Thessaloniki . Again, thank you kja :)
@ OReilly64: I'm glad The Caravan's getting some business from my trip. :) I hope you find that it meets your needs.

Kja, I received your message from Fodors! Thank you very much for your kind wishes. You have a very good memory. We are leaving this Thursday, May 12, for Greece, and we return on May 29. Our itinerary is Santorini, Naxos, Nafplio, and Athens. I was in Greece in 1972, and my husband has never been to Greece. But I only visited Athens with day trips to Delphi, Cape Sounion, and the islands close to Piraeus (Hydra and Aegina). So I am very excited about our upcoming trip.
I hope you are doing well and are able to enjoy traveling again! Karen Woo |
@ KarenWoo: I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip -- Greece can be such a welcoming country! I have incredibly fond memories of Naxos, Nafplio, and Athens, and I trust that you and your husband will find much to enjoy. Bon voyage!
kja, just want to take the time to say thank you again for such a wonderful report. I just reread it as I'm planning my own trip this May. This is so helpful!
@ tripplanner001: I'm so glad you found helpful information in this report! If you enjoy Greece half as much as I did, I know you'll have an absolutely wonderful time. Let me know if I can answer any questions and travel well!

Just read through your blog. Really love how you shared your style of travel and then your feed back to all those who gave you suggestions and help.
I see you visited Lousios Gorge. Did you by any chance do the hike to the Moni Timiou and Old Filosofou and Prodromou Monsrties? If so can you give me some feedback as how best to hike it. There are various suggestions that I have read. Thanks Lynne |
@ DavidandLynne: Many thanks for the compliments, Lynne! No, I didn't hike in the Lousios Gorge, though I'm sure I would have loved it. If timing permits, you might ask at your hotel -- IME, the hotel staff in that part of Greece are knowledgeable and happy to help their guests explore the area. Too, they would likely know of any temporary or weather-related conditions that might affect the trails. Sorry I can't be more helpful! Best wishes for a fantastic journey.

Is there a place to find when cruise ships are coming to Chania? I have used that on other trips to avoid those days.
@ virginiafish: Google is your friend. I entered "chania," "cruise," and "schedule," and found:
