Wisteria

Next year in late March I will be in Barcelona and Toulouse. I also love wisteria. Is it too early for the blooms even that far south?

StCirq Apr 9th, 2017 01:14 PM

I live pretty much on a parallel with Toulouse in the Dordogne, and it's just now starting to bloom...and it was the warmest winter and earliest spring I can remember in 25 years, so I wouldn't be too hopeful.

Oh well... thanks StCirq

I just came back from Italy and the wisteria was amazing! Rome, Florence, Milan, Genoa. That was the last two weeks of March. I would think Barcelona would be similar.

Thanks for that update Isabel. I'm now hopeful.

Thank you for this posting. It is a welcome change from the usual hysteria that goes on here.

You're welcome... :)

Actually, the wisteria has emerged incredibly fast here in recent days, and it's everywhere and gorgeous! I got a bunch of seeds from a neighbor and am going to plant some. It is beyond beautiful and the scent is heavenly. Here's hoping you find it on your travels.

Ours is out in full bloom at the moment. Carpenter bees are buzzing around the flowers.

FuryFluffy Apr 16th, 2017 05:31 AM

Mine too. Not only carpenter bees, but there's a petite human being (me) buzzing around the wisteria, sniffing and admiring.

ribeirasacra Apr 16th, 2017 10:46 PM

Yep, agreed the smell is wonderful
