Winter weather in Praque/Budapest

Is it freezing in Feb/Mar? I don't mind buddleing up but if the wind cuts thru my bones I will not be a happy camper.

What do you mean by freezing? Literally? Where are you from and what are you comparing it to? Alaska? Florida? Yes it will be chilly (warming up a litle by the end of March)but not unbearable by my standards.

Is it below 32 degrees and windy? We are from the Midwest so I can take chilly without a problem but would want to do a lot of walking and if below 32 and windy I probably would be disappointed.

Yes - it could be. Almost any place in northern or central europe could be. for warmer go to Spain or southern italy.

Check wunderground.com for good current and previous years weather information for most large cities around the world.

Yes the cold will cut through your clothing. You really only want to be outside for a small amount of time there. When I was there the avg temps were -20 to -10 Celsius.

Rod Dec 20th, 2003 03:51 AM

During three winters I was in Budapest, it never reached -20, either C. or F. Indeed, -10C was rare during the day (although last winter was reported to be rather colder than average).

But if 32 F is really your lower limit, skip February.

Thanks everyone for the great replies. Gate 1 has a 399.00 offer for Prague including airfare from my hometown and hotel for 4 nights and I could extend my days for no extra charge (except hotel) permitting me to travel to Budapest. However, with that kind of weather it might not be much fun. I'm sure the cold weather is the reason for the low rate.

CD-Can I ask what the website is for the Prague deal? My son will start school there in January and we would love to go visit him. Thanks!

Thanks Bailey - good pictures. If I could count on 30-40's it would be great. I think with Europe and winter you just never know.
