Finland is beautiful at that time of year, dont know if you plan to ski or not, if not, southern spain is warmish at that time of year, we were in amsterdam in feb, and it wasnt bitterly cold, just a bit cold, but not unbearable.

Bavaria! We took a mid-February trip to southern Germany and it was beautiful. It's not a bad time of year to travel because there's no wondering what to pack and what the weather will be like...you pack sweaters and a heavy coat! (It's funny, though, because due to the coat, you're wearing the "same thing" in every single picture.)
We started out in Heidleburg, then drove over to Strasbourg, France. When we came out of the cathedral, it was snowing huge lacy snow flakes...one of the prettiest things I've ever seen! The Black Forest, with heavy snow weighing down the tree branches, was just incredible...they have sleigh rides and cross country skiing. And Neuschwanstein in the snow was simply magical. Of course there was no waiting in line to get in at that time of year. (The only down side is that tours in English are in short supply.) I look back at that trip so fondly!!! |
NJTarheel....We also take a vacation every February...your husband isn't also involved in ProFootball??
We leave right after the Super Bowl....usually to Europe. Paris, London, Rome, Prague, Barcelona/Costa Brava....we have never found any of the locations to be colder than NY....In fact we had to stay an extra day in Prague due to a blizzard in NYC. We love Europe in the winter!! Have a marvelous trip!! ((*)) |
I'm so glad to hear all of these wonderful affirmations. We had been thinking about the Caribbean, since it will definitely be warm- but we are much more drawn to Europe right now!
Bailey, no, my husband is definitely not involved in pro football :) He is a teacher, actually, so his vacation times are set in stone. |
Ahh. To revisit the skiing experience of Furi? in '69 when I was 11.

TarheelsinNj,
My wife and I prefer to tour Europe in Winter for the fantastic scenery. Last season we traversed Switzerland on the Glacier Express from Zematt to St Moritz after staying in Zermatt for several days just looking out at the Matterhorn and going up on the Gornergrat rail and Klien Matterhorn and then in St Moritz the Bernina Pass rail into Italy was beyond belief. In previous years we have been thru France, Austria all in Winter, and are again booked for Holland & Belgium in Late March early April (Tulip Time) 2006 so in our opinion Europe in Winter is most enjoyable |
