Winging it in Andalucia?

We are planning our trip to Spain for the last two weeks of March. We are going to book rooms in Madrid and Seville, but for the rest of the trip, we thought we would rent a car, and wing it as far as finding accomodations. We were planning 2 nights in or near Rhonda, 3 nights in or near Granada, preferably in the mountains, and a night in Nejera. Since this is the week before Easter week, would it be safe to assume we could find rooms without pre reserving?

Ortega Y Gasset in "Invertebrate Spain" sais that Andalucia is the closest things we have to Paradise. Sounds like a great recommendation.

I wouldn't do this, but that's me. We were there over Easter 2 years ago and didn't have train reservations in advance and ran into problems because of it. We were told that half of Spain travels during and around Easter, and Ronda and Granada are popular destinations, so I would have reservations in advance. Others might disagree. Anyone?

Last day of school in Spain is the 1st of April, then two weeks eastern vacation. As from the 30th or 31st of March must places will be full unless you plan to go to a big city, Sevilla Madrid, Barcelona.

Car, why would most places be full March 30 & 31, if this is mid week and before Easter week?

What happens is that people with pending vacation time add it to the holiday and to avoid traffic problems some others leave the day before.
It might be more precise to say that approaching the 1st it will not be safe
to assume you could find rooms.

I think you'd be ok. Obviously you are flexible and willing to do some looking once you decide where you want to be. Don't know what you are looking for near Ronda, but you might look at Molino del Santo in Benoajan, six miles outside of Ronda. Has website. I am not all that familiar with the area around Granada, ut did find a great little road with villages and places to stay in the Alpujarras south of Granada. Head south out of Granada toward Nerja and take the exit to Lanjaron and then follow that road on up to Capiliera and a couple of other villages I can't remember the name of. Sever hotels etc. BTW: a bit of a hairy drive - no guard rail.
