I don't consider the CR exactly a wine mecca. Having said that, I think the red is more tolerable than the white, in general. Prague is a city, they don't have wineries but they do have breweries, of course. You can even take a tour of one, Staropramen, over near the Andel metro stop. http://center.staropramen.com/
Most of the wineries in the CR are in Moravia, I believe.
here's some info on the CR wine industry http://www.wineofczechrepublic.cz/5-...ourism-en.html

tis restaurant is set in a vineyard in the Vinohrady area of Prague, a bit awkward to get to but worth the effort and you can drink the wine from the grapes grown in the vineyard, been a few years since I was in there, but the food was good and the wine reasonable

As the others said, the Czech Republic is not exactly2 wine country", but there are some options north of Prague.
The region around Litomerice has vineyards. The castle in Litomerice has an exhibit and you can do wine tastings there. Open daily 9 - 17 h. Don't expect too much, though.
The other option is castle Melnik, vis-a-vis the confluence of rivers Labe/Elbe and Vltava/Moldau. The castle and surrounding grounds were restituted to the Lobkowicz family and they improved the quality of the wine that grows there a lot. Wine tastings at the castle's vinoteka.
However, for really great wine better check out the area north of Dresden (you said between Berlin and Prague, right?). Two very good adresses are www.schloss-wackerbarth.de (sparkling wines as well, tours several times a day incl. tastings) and www.schloss-proschwitz.de (near Meißen). Both have wines that won prizes.
Or try www.weinhaus-schuh.de Their winery is in a village just outside Meissen, but they also have a wine shop (tastings possible) right in Meissen at the Markt square, where they also sell wines from other wineries in the region (Proschwitz and Wackerbarth, too) Mon-Fri 11-18 h.

Great thanks so much. I saw someone else on a forum wrote good things about scholoss wackerbathe. I wasn't sure if was worth the stop between Berlin to prague to go there? Have you ever been here? We would be there on a Friday afternoon in July. Any more info on this place or place nearby to couple the trip together would be really appreciated.
Thanks aagain

Yes, Schloss Wackerbarth is worth seeing. Beautiful setting, the tours are informative, the wine is very good. The restaurant right on the property is also pretty good. Nearby, in the same town (Radebeul, just outside of Dresden, only a few miles from a motorway A 13 exit - signposted) is Schloss Hofloessnitz, a small castle from the 16th century, which was turned into a viticulture museum and where you can taste other local (organic) wines. www.hofloessnitz.de - just in case your day is not full yet
For Schloss Wackerbarth see this link for tours:

The sparkling wine tour is probably too late in the afternoon (5 pm) for you, so that leaves the wine tour at 2 pm. Also a good choice.
