Wineries in French Riviera

Hello everyone... I will be leaving for the French Riveria, basing our stay in Nice in just 2 weeks. I am very interested in taking a day trip to a vineyard for a day. I haven't had much luck finding one that wasn't through a tour company, costing quite a bit of money.
I would grately appreciate any suggestions you have from those that have gone to a wine tasting in France. (South of France) I know that Avington area has tons of wineries...if you don't think those are too far out of the way for a day trip I am definately open to suggestions in that area. I recently went to a wine tasting here in Florida and there were tons of "vendors" from the South of France, in a region an hour south of Nice.

Thanks so much for your help and any advice you can give me.

Sorry, but the Riviera is not a wine-growing region. Wine-growing starts west of Nice, with minor quality which becomes better in the upper Provence.

Bandol is the only wine-growing region on the Cote d'Azur which is worth mentioning, however pretty far from Nice. This is the best producer: www.domaines-ott.com

Ott is Bandol Tempier's competition. I love Tempier's rose, too bad it is so pricey. I only buy it twice during the summer for special quests.
