Wine tour in Burgundy..
 

I'll be staying in Burgundy for 3 days and I've been trying to book tour with winesandvoyages.com and I have not been sucessful.Does anyone Know anyother company that has this kind of service?My wife and I will be staying at Olivier Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet.I am a wine aficionado,and I really want to tour the Cote de Beaune e Cote de Nuits...I love wineries...Si vous plait messiers ou madams

Here's my experience for what it's worth: I had similar intentions, but found that most of the vineyards in the region seem not open for general sightseeing 'tours', at least on anything like the scale in other wine regions. Wine tasting was available at various caves and negociants that were located IN towns such as Beaune, and not at the vineyards. I guess if you generally sell all you can produce, then you don't have to cater for the 'passing trade'. Like you, I'd be interested to hear of any worthwhile visits that are available to the general public.

I enjoyed a self-guided tour of the Chateau de Meursault in Meursault.

It cost about 15 euro for the tour which includes a glass for wine tasting at the end.

You are invited to tour a bit of the chateau in rooms displaying various artworks before descending to the caves.

These extensive underground caves, show different wines aging in locked vaults covered in dust as you walk along dark, narrow passageways. At times you need to duck as the ceiling is low.

It is cool and damp and we walked swiftly through this area (my daughter was a bit claustraphobic) and you enter the wine tasting rooms.

Most of the wines were white with some Reds. They say it is good to have some bread in your purse to cleanse your pallet.

We really enjoyed this as it was at your own pace.

My husband and I plan on biking from Beaune along the 26km (12 mile) bike route between Beaune and Santenay in October.

Another vote for Meursault if no company is available.

It is possible to do a wine, historical and discovery tour with www.authentica-tour.com (visit the vineayrd of Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, the medieval village of Chateauneuf en Auxois, Flavigny sur Ozerain where the movie Chocolat was filmed and the abbaye of Fontenay listed at the UNESCO.

We had a lovely tour last spring with Burgundy Discovery. They picked us up from our hotel, took us to 2 wineries in the morning, then lunch with wine, then one more winery in the afternoon. They end the tour at a wine shop where you can buy the wine you tasted and have it shipped home. We probably tasted 30 or more wines through out the day, met 2 of the 3 owners and got to do fun things like tasting from the barrel as well.
