Wine Tasting in and around Kent

What are the best wine tasting opportunities in the area?

I think there's a winery near Lambourne but to be honest the best winetasting plan in Kent is to take the Chunnel over to France!

However, you might want to have a look at some of the oast houses (used for roasting hops) in Kent--and then hit local pubs to sample the beer.

Actually there are quite a few vineyards with tastings in Kent - more than oast houses that still roast hops. And some offer good vintages.

Check out http://www.bbc.co.uk/kent/do_see/mar...ineyards.shtml

It list a TON of vineyards and their opening hours.

I've seen the lists. Unfortunately, wine tasting is a bit like turning on the television - it is far too easy to have an underwhelming experience. I was hoping for input from those who appreciate wine, appreciate wine tasting, and have some experience with wine tasting in Southern England.
