Antonella

There is a wine museum called Vinopolis on the south bank of the River Thames - nearest tube station Southwark. They also have a restaurant. Enjoy!

Vinopolis does a great tour and the food is excellent along with the wine. The shop has every imaginable wine related product ever made.

Try combining a visit there with one to Southwark cath. or the Globe , They are within walking distance of each other

Antonella

Vinopolis is more than a museum offering interactive exhibits, an introductory session on how to taste wine and tours of all the great wine producing regions of the world. I went expecting to spend an hour or so and stayed all afternoon. The staff were excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. The entrance price includes five wine tastings from the 100 on offer that day. It is open Tuesday to Friday & Sunday 11.00am - 6.00pm. Late Nights
Saturday 11.00am - 8.00pm, Monday 11.00am - 9.00pm. Last entry to the tour is 2 hours before closing. Visit their website at: www.vinopolis.co.uk

Antonella,
I visited Vinopolis in the summer of '99 and really enjoyed it. Its especially good for someone who doesn't know a whole lot about wine. The tastings were fun and the staff great. I didn't stay for a meal and spent about 2 hours there. They had a great CDrom that I bought for a friend. It gives wine suggestions for ANY food. It is right in a very historic area of London and if you're interested in history, VInopolis could be an easy mid-stop during an historic walk from the Tower Bridge, than back over the bridge that leads to Westminster Abbey.
