Windsor Castle

How much time do we need to visit Windsor Castle? We're not doing a day trip, just a short stop on our way from Heathrow to Bath. We're not planning to explore the town, just interested in Castle itself.

If you get there as soon as it opens and have bought tickets in advance, head straight for the state apartments. You could spend about an hour there then explore the rest of the castle - making sure that you visit St George's Chapel, where many of the Kings and Queens are buried (including Henry VIII, Charles I and all the "recent" monarchs with the exception of Victoria). This is closed on Sundays.
If you get there later you will get caught in crowds and spend a lot of the time stood in line. An early start should make the castle viewable in about 3 hours or less.
