I don't know about getting married or buried there but I've visited Winchester several times and love the city.

Jane Austen's grave is inside the cathedral.

Normally it's not easy to get married at Winchester Cathedral or other famous cathedrals or churches like Westminster Abbey. Because they get flooded with requests, the dean and chapter (those in charge) have drawn up criteria of who may be married or have their funerals there. Normally you need a very strong connection through your family, or for St Paul's Cathedral (in the crypt chapel), you or your parents must have been awarded OBE or other honours. The D&C do have discretion to allow other people, to meet a particular pastoral need (e.g. a funeral of a nationally acclaimed person). Some cathedrals are also parish churches, where parishioners (those who live in the parish or worship regularly) have the right to have weddings and funerals there.

Thank You, Alec. I kind of figured that.

I need to get a boyfriend, first. ;)
