Wimbeldon- queue for same day tickets

Wondering if anyone has any experience or feedback on queueing up at Wimbeldon for same day tickets. Just found out I will be in the area during the tournament this year and this is something that is on my bucket list. Would be crazy not to try and find out if this is possible. Can't afford the astronomical prices from ticket brokers however. Any insight would be helpful!

A limited number of tickets for the main showcourts at Wimbledon (note correct spelling) are available on the day, but for these you'll need to queue up overnight - it's become something of a tradition and there's plenty of hardcore tennis fans out there.

Another option is to arrive very early in the morning (i.e. 6am) and just buy a ground admission ticket which allows you to watch whatever happens to be on the "outside" (i.e non-show) courts. Tickets for the showcourts are re-sold in the late afternoon once the original holders have left the site for the day. So it depends how much you want to do this - if you are really determined, and not put off by queueing, there's a good chance to get in, otherwise give it a miss.

Thanks Gordon_R. I appreciate the info, (and thanks for correcting my spelling error!). I'm not sure I have it in me to queue up overnight, but a ground admission may do the trick just for the experience! Who knows, maybe it will motivate me to make another trip with the proper planning next time!

my family of 4 are are going to be in London 06/28 - 07/01. We are avid tennis fans and would love to be able to attend Wimbledon. Since our time is limited, I was hoping that we can get ground tickets for 5PM and later. Do we still need to show up at 6AM for those? Are ground tickets re-sold?

We did exactly that many years ago, before internet could sell tix, advise on length of line and protocol; we were staying in Kensington, simply took a train out, had a short walk and queued on; probably didnt get on line till mid-morning; it all was very civilized and we saw a few matches through the afternoon, not center court of course. That was a warm and hot summer and had strawberries and cream naturally between matches. It is a fond memory. Hope you can get there.
