WillTravel: a question about Roman and Italian B&B
 

Hi there,

I am looking at the Roman and Italian B&B on Filiberto in Rome- and I came across your name several times. I was wondering if you ever ended up staying there- if not, how come? It looks great (although, granted, the location is not as convenient as staying in the heart of Rome).

We are trying to stay under 100E, without totally grunging it... which has been a little difficult during the end of June.

Anyone else with information about this B&B, please feel free to respond!

I didn't stay there. I thought some things were "funny" with various reviews, plus there was a lack of phone service in the room, and no luggage storage on the last day.

When I went to Rome, I visited the area when I went to San Giovanni in Laterano - I certainly did not like it as well as the area where I ended up staying near the Trevi Fountain.

Have you considered the various convent options (if they aren't booked up yet)?

which "funny" reviews are you referring to? and do you have any convents in particular that you recommend? some of the reviews on this board seem mixed...

hookemorph, I don't want to cast unjustified aspersions, but many of the reviews seemed less than authentic, and the bad ones were quite bad.

I can't recommend any convents personally, but it seems Istituto Santa Giuliana and Fraternus Domus among others have pretty good reviews for what they offer.

I ended up at Hotel Julia, which has a "single, economical" room that is a good value, in my opinion, if you don't need air conditioning. But their other rooms, which do have full facilities and A/C, are not really in the low-budget category. But email them and see what rate you can get, if interested.
