WillGatwick Express Train be affected?

We are arriving Gatwick A.M.May 3rd. Heard there is to be a Tube Strike?? Will Gatwick Express Train be involved? Thanks!

Believe Gatwick Express is a train, not part of the tube system. (For instance, you can't use a tube pass to ride on it.) Shouldn't be affected by the strike, but is there somebody out there who can correct me if I'm wrong?

You are correct, Linda. The Gatwick Express is a separate privately-owned train company, not part of the London Underground, and presumably does not have to deal with "jobs for life" demands from its unions.

RLW - Did Jan ask for your anti-labor views? Perhaps if you would read about the real reasons for the strike, like the PPP issue, you wouldn't jump to such faux-news opinions.

Sorry I upset you, Simone. I have been a dues-paying union member for 31 years; I don't think I am anti-labour but I am anti-featherbedding unions. And I agree with you that PPP is the worst of all possible choices, combining the "best" of government inefficiency with the "best" of private sector greed.

Actually the tube strike is about safety, but in any case, no, the Gatwick Express will not be affected. However you will find once you get into London that getting a taxi or bus on that day will be a bit of a nightmare.
