Will you marry me?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a very romantic place to propose in London?

On the London Eye at dusk.

zzz Dec 7th, 2002 09:07 AM

Looking across the Thames at Big Ben as the sun sets and the bells ring.

...says no, no place in the world will be romantic enough. It has been known to happen....

Doug, what time of year will you be proposing? That might determine whether it should be in an indoor or an outdoor venue. And do you prefer a place that might not have a lot of tourists passing by?
A Springtime proposal in the Kensington Rooftop Gardens would be lovely.

How about getting tickets to a romantic Broadway play, getting box seats, and proposing while the play is at its heighth. What do you think?

Propose during a play?! I agree with "alas":

If she says no, imagine how the rest of the play would be a drag to sit through---and if she says yes, the excitement will render the remainder of the play forgotten, plus it'll be torture to stay silent.

I read a story about a guy that proposed on the first day of a 7 day trip to London, and the girl said NO. Trip was depresing/stressful to say the least. Like a lawyer, I'd be real sure of the answer before I asked the question.

In one of the wonderful parks, Hyde,Green, St James, on a park bench.
On the top of a double decker bus, riding past somewhere impressive, say Parliament or Buckingham Palace.
Walking along the Thames.
At dinner, after a play, by candlelight.
Or wake up in the morning, leave the ring on your pillow and wake her up, ask her and then go back to bed:)
**I am sure that you know her better than any of these posters and have a feeling that she will say Yes**

On the Albert Bridge ,after dark, when it is lit up.

Maggie Dec 7th, 2002 11:44 AM

Many choose a bridge over the Thames, at night. How about Tower Bridge!

Doug Dec 7th, 2002 01:54 PM

Hi its Doug, I'm pretty positive of the answer and we will be in London this Jan.

How Dec 7th, 2002 02:10 PM

Doug,
how about on the plane? Snuggling up taking a long flight through the night, whispering in the dark.
Aaahhh romance!

CAgal Dec 7th, 2002 03:50 PM

Take her to Paris for the day...

Keith Dec 7th, 2002 04:08 PM

How about this. Go to Big Ben at midnight.Tell her you have a surprise for her and tell her to close her eyes.
As the chimes count to 12 tell her the 12 things you love about her the most.
Have her open her eyes on the 12th chime and give her the ring.
This will also be memorable because you can tell everyone you proposed on one day but she did'nt tell you yes until the next.
Keith

This post is making me cry, romance is so sweet especially in such a beautiful place. It nice to know there are romantics out there.

zz Dec 7th, 2002 04:14 PM

How about on one of the evening dinner cruises?

luvvie Dec 7th, 2002 04:21 PM

Oh my God Keith, are you married or committed? I think I love you! What an amazing suggestion. I absolutely love London and if a man I was in love with proposed to me that way I would love him even more.

ccc Dec 7th, 2002 04:32 PM

How about in front of the Queens wedding gowns at Kensington Palace?

asayla Dec 7th, 2002 06:09 PM

To Doug:where ever you decide to propose, I am sure it will be romantic & memorable for her :)

And Keith, will YOU marry ME?? :)))
