Dear Doctor:

Travel therapists - - are you kidding? Is there a website explaining more about this meeting or organization?

Too bad I can't come there and meet you; I too, will be in New York that weekend, but in Rochester (U of R sesquicentennial and parents' weekend).

And the address is as easy to find as Yahoo "Fodor's Travel Publications"

201 East 50th St.
New York, NY 10022
(800) 733-3000

Best wishes,

Rex

P.S. Let me know if I can help contribute to the selection of the wine - though the suggestion from xxx of Sasso Rosso sounds good. I read more about it at the website www.cal-italia.org after the Pietra Santa posting appeared here.

Let's hear it for Dr. Fordor! Go for it! We want a photo, too, of the Fodors office lobby so we can really get our vicarious thrills, how's that?

I can attest that Dr. Fordor's convention of Travel Therapists is quite legitimate. Dr. Fordor is awfully modest not to mention that she will be delivering the keynote address, entitled "A United Europe and United States (But Splitting Off Hawaii Works For Me.)" I received a copy of the program, and the following small discussion group meetings caught my eye:

1. Co-dependency on the Road: Soothing Your Travel Companion.

2. The French: Passive/Aggressive or Just Plain Rude.

3. Pisa Envy.

Dr. Fordor, Good Luck and God's Speed!
Guess what? Yahoo must be out of date. According to the FAQ on this website, the address of Fodor's is 280 Park Ave., NYC 10017.

Thank you triple O. I can't think of anything worse than to get lost in NYC with a bottle of good red wine. I just re-read this post this AM and didn't realize that Danny had responded earlier on. So Danny, in all seriousness, like a true pilgrim, I will be there on 10/13. Will you be there or do I just leave it on the doorstep?

Thank you, thank you Dr. Fordor for stepping in here with your genrous offer. Perhaps, after meeting your august personage, Fodor's will offer you a hosted forum on travel addiction! I hope you and the bottle of wine make it safely to Fodor's door.

Hi Dr. Betty,

Y'all really (really) shouldn't! But thanks.

I'll be in and out of meetings next Friday, but I'll make sure that our Community Coordinator, Dave Downing, is available if I'm not. (He's more debonair than I am, anyway.)

We're not usually in the office before 10, so if you want to come earlier than that, let us know.

Triple O is correct, by the way. We moved to 280 Park Avenue (our neighbors include the NFL) a couple of months ago. We're on the 10th floor; just ask for one of us at the reception desk.

Thanks again to all -- for your feedback about the site and the anticipated fine wine.

Yours truly,

Danny Mangin
Editorial Director
Fodors.com

Thank you Danny! People are gonna want pictures of this event, so have the cameras ready.

And Fodorphiles, this is gonna take a case of good wine, perhaps an Italian lunch could be catered in as well. Wouldn't want to drink all that wine on an empty stomach.

Well now I must consider the planning..., what to wear, what to wear, pink stretch pants or black conservative?

This is great!

Dr. Betty
A case? How did this escalate to a case?

Does Dr. Betty need professional help to fight the onset of grandiosity?

Now, really, did you think someone who is in a dither about whether to wear pink stretch pants or all black is seriously considering lugging a whole CASE of wine into the fodors office? I just happen to know Dr. Betty Fordor and I know she can't afford it! She's a good shrink, but she ain't that good!

Fodorphiliacs,
You must forgive me. You know I look at my caseload every day and I'm used to considering many things as cases and that one bottle of wine multiplied in my head, grew into a caseload of wine when I began to consider the whole staff at Fodors and how far that one bottle was going to go, and whether Danny or Dave was going to uncork it right there and share it or quickly hide it behind a desk somewhere.

But today I am thinking more clearly and I'm back to the one bottle. It's nice to know your'e so concerned.
God Bless!
Dr. Betty

Hi Sally, I enjoyed this thread so much a couple of days ago, but it's gone dead... I have been checking in everyday.. but nothing! It's like missing the next episode of a soapy.... Well what did you decide to wear Dr Fodor? Please tell, how are you now feeling as the "Presentation" approaches. Nervous? Excited? (or just plain sorry you offered)
In Anticipation.....!
