WILL SOMEONE PLEASE FIX THIS SITE!!!!

This has been going on for several days now, with multiple posts on this. I not only do NOT want to see the TRIP IDEAS menu everytime I hit a post, but what really ticks me off is that if you don't hit the X exactly you get to see the big SONY ad.

HEY FODORS, I know about Sony, been using them for years.

If Fodors had used a decent BBS system when they changed over a year or so ago things like this don't happen.

I hear you...it's driving me nuts and is so frustrating!

Michael Oct 29th, 2010 04:40 PM

Did you write to Fodors directly or do you think that public venting will get better results?

BTW, I am not having any of the problems you are mentioning.

danon Oct 29th, 2010 04:47 PM

I had the same problem earlier in the day, but not now.

Dayle Oct 29th, 2010 04:50 PM

I encountered this very annoying problem yesterday and today. Every time you click on anything, the Trip Ideas drop down menu blocks the screen and you have to close it out.

Ugh

denisea Oct 29th, 2010 04:52 PM

another thread on this issue suggested holding down the shift key while refreshing your browser and it worked for me

StCirq Oct 29th, 2010 05:01 PM

I have had no problems whatsoever, though I've seen innumerable threads from people who have. Amy said to hold down your shift key while refreshing your browser.

opaldog Oct 29th, 2010 05:12 PM

I have had the same problem with the trip menu popping up everytime I click on something, also the sony ad. Hope they fix it soon. It is annoying

StuDudley Oct 29th, 2010 05:26 PM

You get the "problem" if you use aol or Internet Explorer. Things work fine if you use Firefox.

I use Firefox and the trip menu is popping up on mine and blocking part of the screen.

janisj Oct 29th, 2010 05:33 PM

It actually happens on just about every browser (even firefox). The tech staff fixed the underlying problem -- but you have to clean it up at your end too.

Amy has posted the fix on almost every board -- here are just a few of the threads . . .

This has happened to me exactly once. I hit "refresh" and the dropdown went away and hasn't returned since. I use Firefox.

adrienne Oct 29th, 2010 05:58 PM

Use Firefox and you won't have a problem.

jscarbary Oct 29th, 2010 06:07 PM

I use Safari and it has been a problem for the last two days.

jent103 Oct 29th, 2010 06:08 PM

Actually, Firefox and Chrome both had the issue for me yesterday. Glad to know it's fixed on the Fodor's end and there is an easy solution on our end.

StCirq Oct 29th, 2010 06:30 PM

I'm on Firefox and have no problems.

northie Oct 29th, 2010 07:05 PM

and I thought it was me !!!!

TPAYT Oct 29th, 2010 07:08 PM

This drop down is really annoying I agree. Where is the Fodors support staff? Let's get rid of this. As far as other travel chat sites go, Fodors has always been at he top, now this!

kerouac Oct 29th, 2010 09:06 PM

It's been happening to me non stop on the office computer but not at home.

ggreen Oct 29th, 2010 09:28 PM

It was happening to me in Firefox 3.6 but then went away...

You know, we're all quite lucky that the Fodor's site is really basically bug-free. Welcome to the world of software - every once in a while sh*t happens. I'm sure the company is not happy that their new feature or ad is bugging out in this manner! "Where is the Fodor's support staff", well if they're anything like any of the internet sites I've worked for, they're working through the night to get this fixed...
