Will Paris hotels give discounts?
We're planning a trip to Paris for Easter week. Five adults, which means a double and a triple for seven nights. Right now, we're looking at 3 star hotels in the 5th, 6th, or 7th. Some guidebooks say that some hotels may be willing to give a discount off of the published internet rates. Has anyone had success with this? Are the hotels in Paris still likely to be full that week, or has the economy thinned demand at all?

I`ve found discounts many times by using a third-party site. For example, www.hotelscombined.com, www.hrs.de, Hotwire, and bidding on Priceline.
Also, the hotel`s website may tell you if it is running a promotion. Apart from that, you can contact the hotel and say that you are taking a double and triple for 7 nights - would they be prepared to offer you a discount? |
w/ that many people I'd definitely consider a large apartment instead of two cramped hotel rooms. Would likely be cheaper than a hotel w/ or w/o a discount.
But it is late to be booking Easter week to have a full choice . . . |
I don't think it is a buyers market during the Easter week.
Your requirement seems to have an apartment written all over it. |
Easter week might be very tough but I have found that emailing hotels with dates and requirements can get results, particularly as you want two rooms for a full week, as compared to an Easter break of usually 3 or 4 nights tops.
Never hurts to ask but do so quickly as people book for Easter weekend early. You've targeted the more popular arrondisements--perhaps look a bit further out, but still inside the peripherique? |
How did I overlook apartment? Great solution!

Thanks for all your advice! An apartment is an option worth considering. Anyone have an apartment booking company they can recommend?
