Will I still see tulips in late May in Amsterdam?

We will be in Amsterdam May 26-29 and like my namesake says, I love tulips! I know that I will miss Kuekenhof Gardens because it ends on the 20th or so. Are tulips still prevelant around this time or is it just spotty? Thanks!

I'm afraid there won't be any tulips left by the end of May.

There's a small garden just off Leidseplein that "always" has tulips (seen them in March, April and October). It's the little square that has the 'lizards' placed around. Certainly not a field-size view, but they make a beautiful photograph, especially if you fill the frame with them.

I went to Kukenhoff late May and saw tulips. They weren't in full bloom but there were plenty of lovely tulips there to see!

Thanks for the replies. Travelnut, I tried your links but all I get is their home page. Do I have to sign in to be connected to your page? I also checked Kuekenhof's website and they are only opened from March to mid-May. I don't think you can enter the park after that time.

If you are too late for tulips in Amsterdam in late May, come to Ottawa, Canada and see our late-May tulip festival: floats, parades, fireworks etc, part of which coincides with our own Victoria Day,i.e. Queen Victoria s birthday.

Annually, the Dutch government sends another 100,000 bulbs to thank the people of Canada for sheltering Princess Juliana and her children during the war years.

One of the princesses was born here in Ottawa so I guess Prince Bernhard must have been in the picture for some of the time anyway.

(I was born in the same room as the princess -- a spot deemed as Dutch territory for that day, so that the princess could be born on Dutch soil and maintain her possible claim to the throne, if her sibling died.)

ilovetulips, try this link.

Use "slideshow" and click on >>arrow. Tulips are about 20 pix down.

tedgale, Canada is indeed beautiful.

Thanks for the pictures! They are so pretty! I hope that I get to see some tulips in the spring. I will take Ottawa into consideration. Amsterdam and Paris is our big trip this year, but maybe in the future we will make it to Canada.
