The UK is not a Schengen country so you will not have to go through Immigration at Heathrow.

You will go through Immigration when you leave Italy.

If you have to retrieve checked luggage you will have to pass through Immigration.

If you have to change airlines and have to check in in the Departures Hall you will have to go through Immigration.

Sorry.

For example:

Let us say that you fly British Airways to Mexico City from Rome. You connection is LHR.

Your plane is late. You miss your connection.

In this case you may have to be put on another flight to Mexico City. Brit Air may book you on Air Mexico flight to Mexico City.

If you have no luggage you may be able to check in at the gate but sometimes you would have to check in through the Departures Hall.

Since you are LEAVING the UK you would have to go through Immigration.

The question of going through passport control in Britain is completely irrelevant to travelstyle. Who suffers from the inability to understand English, BTW.

Travelstyle is Peruvian, so is liable to require a visa for transit through Britain. She's been told on the UK Border Agency that the requirement is waived if she's making an air connection out of Britain within 24 hours.

She's also been told she won't go through an immigration desk at Heathrow, but will not be allowed on her Italy-UK flight with a Peruvian passport by the airline unless she can show she's got a confirmed reservation within 24 hours to Mexico. But if she has, she'll be fine.

It's not clear why she doesn't understand this.

It doesn't make it better that nytraveler might be answering the OPs original question, the answer given to either question is still incorrect. Firstly staying airside when connecting at LHR doesn't depend on luggage, whether checked in or carry-on (no idea what the new category of luggage called check-on luggage is). Secondly the comment about agreement from the airline makes no sense.

Welcome to Fodors pooja6. This thread is more than 5 years old with really different details. You probably should start a new thread of your own.
