Will be in Vienna. Where to go from there?
 

I'll be in Vienna at the end of September for work and would like to travel for about a week somewhere else in Europe, preferably Croatia, Italy or France. I'm thinking the Dalmation Coast, Tuscany, Nice, Provence. Give my limited time frame, I'd like to go someplace that I can access quickly and cheaply, either by train or air. Would Madrid or barcelona be out of the question? I'm not all that interested in Germany or Eastern Europe for this trip. Thanks for any advice!

Obviously Vienna has an airport and you can fly anywhere so that isn't an issue. You state you are not interested in Eastern Europe, but to me Sept. would be a marvelous month to see some of rural Austria and then travel down the Danube Bend to Budapest for a few days.

Go for the Dalmation Coast as it will be quieter at that time of year.
