Wildflowers in Berner Oberland
Am wondering what the likelihood is of seeing wildflowers in bloom in the Berner Oberland region in mid-May. We're staying in Murren. Would love to hike through/near a field of wildflowers, but am thinking May might be too early (or at least this year, which so far seems on a cold streak). What's been your experience? And what are the best hikes for viewing wildflowers? Everywhere or are some hikes better than others?
I realize this is very weather dependent. We once traveled to Amsterdam in late April, but the weather that spring was so warm, that we missed the majority of tulips by the time we got there. |
Never mind...I think I answered my own question. Here's a link all about Alpine flowers in Switzerland, including a bloom calendar.

Try to visit Schynige Platte which has a beautiful Alpine Garden and lovely views over both lakes and Interlaken.

Second Schnynige Platte. Lovely trip & flowers. We were there after an unseasonal snow fall and many flowers were peeping up thru a carpet of snow. Beautiful.

Why reviving such an old thread, and then even giving advice that's not exactly helpful? Schynige Platte only opens 1 June. |
