Wild weekends in Tallinn.
 

Any middle aged travelers been in Tallinn on a weekend? It sounds like a big, noisy, drunken party - which we have no problem with - unless it is so over the top that the behavior is obnoxious to any who encounter the partiers. We would not be at clubs or bars - just dinner and some drinks and wandering around. We are from SF and not overly sheltered.

Well I am middle-aged, and I have spent just about countless weekends in Tallinn. I suppose the reputation that you have heard of comes from Brittish bachelor parties that found Tallinn some years ago when Ryanair opened a route there.

Last time I was there was less that two weeks ago. We went to eat at one of the outdoor places on the main square. There were some pedestrians on the square, and some clients on some other terraces (no noise whatsoever). And us two and a Spanish group of about 12 people in the next table. And even they were quiet for Spanish people.

We were there just a few weeks ago; lots of visitors and places to eat/things to see. No noisier than anywhere else...Ibiza Town (I've been there, too) it definitely isn't.

Go for it.

In the hope that 62 is still middle-aged I'll say that we were there for a week (including a weekend) in May.

The flight out from UK (Thursday morning - could have been a bad move) had three large male groups going for the weekend. All were pleasant, and when we saw them in the evenings, vertical and at least reasonably sober.

Weekends will be busy and tables harder to find unless you eat early, there will be more people but it wasn't anywhere near OTT when we were there.

Anyway there are plenty of pleasant places in Tallinn that don't seem to attract the crowds. Also getting out early in the mornings is a good way to avoid the general tourist masses.

As a follow up ...Tallinn was fantastic and we enjoyed our fourth floor apartment right on the town square. There were some groups partying and putting on funny shows in the square, but we enjoyed the whole experience; it was a great town.

We were in Tallin last week. Didn't see alot of noisy drunken partyers at all. Seemed rather sedate in fact.
