wifi in Brussels

Are there inexpensive (or free) wifi sites in Brussels, especially in the area near Grand' Place?

McDonalds.. Place de la Bourse/Beursplein.. just 200 or 300 meters NW of the Grand Place. Also the nearest Metro station to go there.

From my hotel room 3 blocks off Grand Place, I could see about 6 unsecured networks - I used one for several hours to rebook hotel and train after husband became ill and we couldn't leave that day. So you might be able to find one from wherever you are staying.

Travelnut, there is a difference between using an unsecured network, which is illegal and using a wifi hotspot which isn't. A wifi hotspot will be indicated.

well, my bad then. I'm aware of the risks of having an unsecured network and possibly of being connected to one (2-way access), but did not realize it was illegal to connect as long as no illegal acts were being performed via the owner's network.

There's a free wifi hotspot at Exki on rue Neuve (pedestrianised shopping street) - it's a fast food place but it's bright and pleasant, and they have great cakes, salads, soups, sandwiches etc.

Also most, if not all McDonalds. (But I'd rather go to Exki...)
