Wien: der beste Restaurant?

It's almost impossible to provide an answer to this question because there are so many good restaurants in Wien. In the Graben area, try Neu Wien for some new age cooking with Thai accent and a view over the city. Not far from Schonbrunn, try Zu Schonen Aussicht, on a hill with great view over the city and fantastic food. Finally, not too far west of downtown is the Altwienerhof, which has to be some of the best food in town (and is also a hotel). Eat hearty and enjoy.

Korso & Steirereck - do the tasting menu - you won't be disappointed.<BR><BR>

Depends on what you're looking for. Drei Husaren on Weihburgasse (just off the Karntnerstrasse) is one of the top "occasion" restaurants--people go there to celebrate anniversaries, engagements, etc. The ANA Grand Hotel has a couple of excellent restaurants--Le Ciel and also supposedly the only place in town to get really good sushi. (I'm booked into this hotel for a few nights in March, so will see what these places are like).<BR>Our favorite restaurant is Restaurant zum Weissen Rauchfangehrer (the white chimney sweep), just down from Drei Husaren on Weihburgasse. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, very good wine list, often has live piano music.
