Wicklow Co. B&B recommendation
I am visiting Ireland for the first time in August with my husband. We will fly into Dublin (cannot change that) and after an initial night in Dublin will have 4 nights to spend somewhere in the eastern regions. We thought to pick a county and enjoy a relaxing trip rather than try too much. (We will have spent the previous week in Sweden.) We have rented a car, chose Wicklow Co., and are looking for quaint villages and B&Bs. Would love to spend about 60-70E per night. Any recommendations?
Is the Wicklow area a good one to see? If so which towns/villages are best to see? |
How wonderful that you are not giving in to the Green blur!
I would suggest, Riversdale House, http://www.glendalough.eu.com/, in Glendalough. There is also Wicklowway Lodge, http://www.wicklowwaylodge.com/, in Roundstone. Either of those would be an excellent base to explore the Wicklow region. You will definitely want to visit Glendalough and Avoca. If you go to www.wicklow.goireland.com, there are a few driving route suggestions and a list of attractions. Slan Beo (Take Care), Bit Devine |
hollly123,
I believe Bit means Roundwood not Roundstone. Roundstone is in county Galway. It is so beautiful in that area(Wicklow). I spent 5 or 4 nights in Rathnew because of Hunters Hotel. It's a nice village but I wouldn't call it quaint. The area where Bit recommended, is very pretty. Also we drove through Rathdrum, very quaint and I love Avoca of Ballykissangel fame. You'll have a great time. Regards, Joan |
Thanks Joan, I did indeed mean Roudnwood. Gracious, I am usually very good at catching errors before I post. I appreciate you catching it for me.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. We will make sure to see the places you mentioned. I appreciate the advice.
