Why would anybody spend time in the 9th arrondissement?

I've stayed in a different arrondisement every time I've been. Why would you not want to explore a bi tif you get the chance to go more than once? Also, central Paris is really quite compact, you're never more than a few minutes walk from a metro station pretty much anywhere. So no, I don't get the obsession with the 'top tier' arrondisments either.

I also decided to venture out of my habit to look for apartments on the left bank. For our trip this fall, we will be staying in the 2nd. The apartment is around the corner from Rue Montorgueil. I looked and looked for something in the 9th, but didn't have much luck. I'm anxious to visit this market street. I have read good things about it. We plan on dining in the 9th and 10th.
