Why to travel ?
 

So much money for the tickets, the stress, the long trips on planes,airports,hotels etc;and after you have seen a few,or a lot of places you could have seen on movies or the travel programs,you return home tired to pay.

That's why I watch porno - it's easier to watch other people do it than to spend all that money on tickets, the stress, airports, hotels etc.

All the movies in the world can't compare to standing on the Pont des Arts in Paris, or in St. Peter's Square in Rome, or on the fantastic rooftop of Gaudi's Casa Mila in Barcelona.

Elsie may be a troll, but I can assure you that some people feel this way. <BR> <BR>I used to work with a guy who, although he was interested in other countries, and enjoyed hearing about my trips to Europe and elsewhere, didn't care to travel himself. He once told me "Everything I care to see I can see right here in Washington State, or I can see in a movie or a book."

If Elsie was not a troll she would not be visiting a Travel site. <BR>People who feel like Elsie never buy Travel Magazine, read about travel or make the effort to find a travel site on the web. They just never think or talk about travel.

You travel to experience things yourself. When you read a book or watch the movie you are learning about somebody else's viewpoint/experience. <BR> <BR>Similar questions: <BR>Why read books if I can watch a move? Why go to the opera if I can get a CD? <BR>Why eat icecream if I can read the ingridients list? <BR>Why play sports if I can watch them on TV? <BR>

Elsie, Yours is a good question and the answers just bring enphasis on the problem.Capo,I understand is good to be at the pont des Arts,etc but you have to spend a lot of money in trip and acomodation. Elmer,sex brigs a lot of troubles like Cliton explains including the Kids.Good troll alert!

The same genral question was posed in an thread - is that all there is? Postcards versus the real thing - spending $5000 in 2 weeks and all I have to show for it instead of a stupid t-shirt are fading memories. <BR> <BR>The one thing that intrigues me though with this post is "...you return home tired..." I prefer to vacation than travel. In other words, I go to a city for at least 7 days to relax, sleep in late (even if it's my first time there), dwaddle. If I really like the city then I'll return another time - but 2 days here, 1 day there, 1/2 a day here - is not the way I like to travel.
